Role Overview

Designation / RoleAzure Storage Engineer (NetApp/AFS)

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage Azure NetApp Files (ANF) and Azure Files solutions to meet performance, availability, and cost targets.
  • Create and maintain infrastructure as code using ARM templates and Terraform for reproducible provisioning.
  • Automate operational tasks and deployments with PowerShell, Azure CLI, and scripting languages.
  • Configure and enforce identity and access controls using Azure Active Directory and RBAC for storage resources.
  • Plan and implement network connectivity and protocol configurations including NFS (v3 and v4.1), SMB, ExpressRoute, and TCP/IP tuning for storage workloads.
  • Perform capacity planning, storage performance analysis, tuning, and optimization to meet application SLAs.
  • Implement backup, snapshot, replication, and disaster recovery strategies using Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery.
  • Integrate storage solutions with AKS and other compute platforms using CSI drivers and APIs.
  • Monitor storage health and performance using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics; build alerts and dashboards.
  • Produce runbooks, operational documentation, and lead troubleshooting and incident response activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Azure NetApp Files and Azure Files in production environments.
  • Strong automation skills with PowerShell, Azure CLI, and scripting in Python or Bash.
  • Experience authoring ARM templates and using Terraform for infrastructure as code.
  • Solid understanding of NetApp ONTAP concepts, storage protocols (NFS, SMB), and storage performance tuning methodologies.
  • Proven experience with networking concepts relevant to storage, including ExpressRoute, DNS, and TCP/IP.
  • Experience implementing backup, replication, and disaster recovery solutions in Azure.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools; strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across infrastructure, security, and application teams.
