Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic
  • Lead site-specific geotechnical investigations for hydropower projects across globe, including complex Himalayan and non-Himalayan regions.
  • Evaluate geological & Geotechnical risks such as landslides, rockfalls, fault zones, shear zones, seismicity with a strong understanding of both mountainous and peninsular geologies.
  • Provide geotechnical input for site selection, project feasibility, and design optimization.
  • Oversee geophysical surveys, core drilling programs, laboratory testing, and in-situ tests to characterize ground conditions.
  • Support tunnel and underground works design by analyzing rock mass behavior and classifying ground conditions (RMR, Q-System, GSI, etc.).
  • Guide planning and execution of slope stabilization, rock support systems, and foundation treatments.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate geotechnical findings into design and execution strategies.
  • Prepare and review Geotechnical factual report & Geotechnical Interpretative reports, technical reports.
  • Participate in the review and validation of third-party geotechnical reports.
  • Provide technical inputs in DPRs, feasibility reports, tender documents, and DCDRs.
  • Assist in business development activities by assessing geological & geotechnical risks in new project proposals.
  • Ensure geological & geotechnical risk assessments and mitigation plans are embedded in design and execution phases.
  • Engage in innovation and knowledge-sharing initiatives across the organization (e.g., InnoVista, eHackathon, TBEM).
  • Operational
  • Conduct and review Geotechnical risk assessments for tunnels, dams, slopes, and foundation zones, etc.
  • Provide technical support during initial support systems for Tunnels, portal zone, Low cover Tunnels & Slope Stability. Numerical Modelling of NATM tunnel at various overburden.
  • Resolve site-specific Geotechnical challenges by applying advanced tools and best practices.
  • Use and promote the adoption of industry-standard software like PLAXIS, RS2, GeoStudio, Slide, FLAC3D.
  • Regularly update geological and geotechnical databases for project reference.
  • Ensure adherence to national and international standards (IS, IRC, BIS, Eurocodes, etc.).
  • Collaborate with academic institutions on applied research in geology and geotechnics.
  • Integrate learnings from previous projects to improve Geotechnical planning and execution.
  • Financial
  • Optimize the cost of Geotechnical investigations, mitigation works, and stabilization treatments.
  • Contribute to value engineering and cost-saving strategies through early risk identification.
  • Support life cycle cost evaluation for geotechnical components of project designs.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of resources during Geotechnical investigations and construction support.
  • Avoid cost overruns by proactively managing Geotechnical risks and implementing corrective measures early.
  • People
  • Lead PEC teams and ensure timely delivery of high-quality Geotechnical inputs.
  • Support on-site teams and TPIA in interpreting geological & Geotechnical conditions and resolving field issues.
  • Conduct internal workshops, training sessions, and knowledge transfer programs on Geotechnical investigation.
  • Build geotechnical capability within the team for both regional and national projects..
