Role Overview
Designation / RoleHPE NonStop Systems Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain HPE NonStop servers, including Guardian OS and Open System Services (OSS).
- Install, configure, patch, and upgrade NonStop software components such as NonStop SQL/MX, Pathway, and system management tools.
- Troubleshoot hardware, OS, and application issues; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Design and execute high-availability and disaster recovery solutions, including disaster recovery testing and failover procedures.
- Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and resource optimization for transaction processing workloads.
- Create and maintain operational runbooks, scripts, and automation for routine tasks and deployments.
- Participate in change control, release management, and scheduled maintenance windows.
- Collaborate with development teams to support application deployment, integration, and performance troubleshooting.
- Implement security controls, hardening, and monitoring to meet compliance and operational requirements.
- Provide on-call support and incident management for production systems; communicate status and remediation steps to stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience administering HPE NonStop (Tandem) systems in production environments.
- Proven expertise with Guardian OS, Open System Services (OSS), TACL, and Pathway.
- Strong experience with NonStop SQL/MX and database management for high-volume transaction workloads.
- Proficiency in system programming languages and scripting (COBOL, C, C++, Java, SQL, shell scripting).
- Deep understanding of high availability, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and capacity planning practices.
- Experience with monitoring, diagnostics, performance tuning, and incident response processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to interact with cross-functional technical teams and stakeholders.
