Role Overview

  • Reporting To Purchase Manager / Director Job Purpose To manage end-to-end procurement of raw materials, consumables, spares, and services for the plant, ensuring timely availability, best pricing, and required quality while supporting production and cost-saving targets. Key Responsibilities
  • Understand purchase requirements from production, maintenance, projects, and stores, and convert them into purchase plans and orders.
  • Source and develop vendors for steel, engineering items, fabrication materials, consumables, and services relevant to rolling mill/engineering industry.
  • Obtain quotations, prepare comparative statements, and negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost savings.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders in ERP/Tally or any procurement system, and ensure proper approval as per company policy.
  • Follow up with suppliers for on-time delivery, track order status, and coordinate with stores for GRN, quality issues, and rejections.
  • Monitor inventory levels for critical materials, avoid stock-out situations, and support optimum stock levels in coordination with stores.
  • Maintain and update supplier database, rate contracts, and price lists; evaluate supplier performance on quality, delivery, and service.
  • Prepare purchase-related MIS reports (purchase vs budget, price trend, pending POs, vendor performance) for management.
  • Assist in developing and implementing procurement policies and cost-reduction initiatives. Candidate Profile / Qualifications
  • Graduate (B. Com / BBA / BE / Diploma) preferred; additional qualification in Materials Management / Supply Chain is an advantage.
  • 4–8 years of experience in purchase/procurement, preferably in the steel/engineering/manufacturing industry.
  • Good knowledge of industrial materials, basic specifications, vendors, and local/national market for engineering and steel items.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills with a focus on cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and experience in Tally/ERP or any purchase module.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple purchase requirements, and coordinate with different departments under time pressure. Working Conditions
  • Full-time, office-based at Moraiya unit with regular coordination on shop floor and stores.
  • Salary: As per company norms and candidate’s experience.
